As with any type of stain, even for blood stains, there are different solutions to effectively remove dirt from the mattress, let's see them together!



 

Cold water

As discussed earlier in this article, hot water should never be used to treat blood stains as it can set the dirt.

Use a damp microfiber cloth and dab the stain until there is no more mark on the mattress, obviously rinse the sponge often so as not to aggravate the situation.

Sodium bicarbonate

The king of home solutions for removing stains from fabrics is still baking soda!



To clean the blood mattress with baking soda:

  • Make a solution with 2 parts water for every part baking soda
  • Distribute it on the stain
  • Leave on for ten minutes
  • strong > Remove the mixture without rubbing too hard

In addition to removing stains, baking soda also has a strong disinfecting and deodorizing power.

Cornstarch

Cornstarch is also a grandmother's remedy to get rid of blood stains on the mattress. As with baking soda, you can dilute it with water and add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to increase the effectiveness of the treatment.

Cover the stain with the mixture and let it sit for a few minutes, then clean it with a damp cloth.

Hydrogen peroxide

You can use hydrogen peroxide, in small quantities, directly on the stain: soak a cotton ball and place it on the affected surface, then remove it and pat with a damp cloth.

If the stain is still fresh, simply dilute the hydrogen peroxide with water and remove the halo with a microfiber cloth.

Mild detergent or bleach

A mild detergent or bleach may also be helpful in removing blood stains:

  • Moisten the area to be treated
  • Pour a little detergent on the stain and let it sit
  • If using bleach, pour some onto a sponge and wipe the affected area
  • Rinse off any residue with a cloth and clean water


How to clean menstrual blood stains on the mattress?

The makeup of menstrual blood makes it very different from blood that can come out of a wound, which makes it particularly difficult to remove because it dries out faster.



You do not have to change the mattress, there is a specific solution to clean the mattress of menstrual blood: use a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water and proceed as described in the paragraph dedicated to this remedy.

In the case of particularly resistant stains, you can evaluate the use of glycerin or specific chemicals to remove this type of soil.
